There are countless unlisted firetrails around the Bilpin – Mt. Tomah region that are excellent for two wheeled pedal adventures (or walks). Below are a list of the better known tracks.
Mt. Banks Walls
Probably the most spectacular ride you will ever do! Featuring 11km of cliff top riding along a service trail that begins at Mt. Banks Picnic area. The trail heads east along the Grose Valley with numerous lookouts and spots to stop for lunch. An all round great ride!
Pattersons Ridge to Burralow Swamp
This fire-trail heads out along Patterson’s Ridge towards Burralow Swamp at a fairly straight forward pace. Finally it drops steeply down into the lush swamp area where there are options to continue to either Kurrajong Heights or Bowen Mountain. Both are extensive climbs. Burralow Swamp and Patterson’s Ridge fire trail can be accessed by 4WD (and some 2WDs) from Kurrajong Heights so there is potential for a car shuffle if you don’t feel like riding up the steep hill. Either way, make sure you explore the swamp and nearby Bulcammatta Falls!
Newnes Area
There is an extensive network of service roads on the Newnes Plateau that offer good riding options and most are 2WD accessible. The popular glow-worm tunnel is a good option, but take a map.
